This is Polite Economy. There must be a number of viewers who are just about to wake their kids up and rush them to get ready for school. You must all think they have to study hard to go to good schools and to get good jobs, right?
Nevertheless, there have been a couple of studies that show studying hard is no longer enough, so parents and children must consider how the economy is going to change in the future and how job situation would change accordingly. I’d like to share about the results of these studies with the viewers today (27th).
To begin with, the Fourth Industrial Revolution has been a hot topic recently, right? Many are saying that the world would change with the rapidly developing IT technologies such as the artificial intelligence. In light of this, a research institute has conducted a study on how job situation would change in Korea in 20 years as a result of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The result showed that 1.2 million jobs are expected to disappear. As for the types of jobs, the research team presented that the number of non-routine cognitive jobs, in simple terms, creative jobs such as IT engineers, authors, musicians, and consultants that are hard to replace with computers, would increase by over 300,000 jobs.
However, 580,000 jobs of routine work such as parts assembling and 980,000 jobs of pure manual work are expected to decrease.
